Carole B. Hamlin, the broker of record, has been in the retail real estate brokerage business since 1983. Prior to that she was in industrial real estate brokerage for several years.
From 1983 until 1996, she was associated with Trout, Segall & Doyle, LLC, becoming a vice president with the company. Ms. Hamlin worked in Maryland and Virginia with various retailers such as J. C. Penney, Staples, Circuit City, BJ's Wholesale Club, Pep Boys, A & P Superfresh, Sears Paint & Hardware, Lowe's Home Centers, Blockbuster Video, Carpet Fair, Firestone Tire, the Hertz Corporation, Wendy's, Burger King, Bob Evans, and many others.
From 1996 until 1998, Ms. Hamlin was a vice president with H & R Retail, Inc. (formerly Hicks & Rotner), and continued working with various retailers such as Staples, CVS Drug Stores, Modell's Sporting Goods, Donna's Restaurants, Yankee Candle Company, Safeway, Sony/Loews Theaters, Dollar Tree, Casual Male Big & Tall, and a number of others. In 1998, Ms. Hamlin joined JHP Realty, Inc. (now Retail Strategies, Inc.), continuing to work with retailers, property owners, and developers throughout Maryland and Virginia. She developed relationships with some additional retailers, including Cracker Barrel, Public Storage, The White House/Black Market, Sports Authority, Wawa Food Markets, Toys R Us, and Carpet Land.
Ms. Hamlin founded Baltimore/Washington Retail Brokerage in January, 2000, to focus more productively on the clientele she has developed over the years and to attract new business to the company.
Ms. Hamlin is a founding member and past president of the Washington DC-based Women in Retail Real Estate (WIRRE). She is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, the trade association for the shopping center industry, and has co-chaired the committee producing the retailer panels for the Mid-Atlantic ICSC meeting for the past several years.
Ms. Hamlin is licensed as a real estate broker in both Maryland and Virginia and covers the Baltimore and Washington metropolitan areas, as well as the rest of both states, depending on the needs of her clients.
Ms. Hamlin graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Goucher College and earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of Maryland School of Law. She was admitted to the Maryland Bar in 1983. She resides in Baltimore, Maryland.
